African Wildlife: Zebras

Each zebra has a different stripe pattern just like people have different finger prints. Zebras in South Africa are found in small numbers of one or two to six and are quite skittish. It is much different in Tanzania and Kenya where they can be found in groups of 50 to 100 or more. They find safety in numbers and are much less skittish in large groups.

Zebras in South Africa are quite skittish. These zebras were well into the bush when I photographed them.

Zebras are skittish in South Africa, so this little one was difficult to photograph as it wouldn't come out of the bush.

This pregnant zebra was hot and tired. It is the dry season in Tanzania and she is pregnant, so she rests her head on the zebra ahead of her so she can have a little rest.
